Change isn’t always comfortable, but it’s often the clearest signal that growth is happening. After many years in real estate, I’ve learned that the real risk isn’t changing. It’s staying the same when your business has already evolved. That lesson is what led us to make an important strategic decision, and it’s one I think many agents can learn from.

Why did we make this change? This year, we made a deliberate shift by changing our website from Boulder Home Source to Colorado Home Source. When you build brand recognition over time, changing a name is never a casual decision. Agents have asked why we would move away from a name that had trust, history, and strong SEO behind it. The answer comes down to alignment between brand and reality.

How it all started. When my wife and I first launched Boulder Home Source, we were working out of a small office in Boulder with no plans to expand beyond Boulder County. Our business was hyper-local by design. In 1998, being early to online real estate gave us an advantage, and from the start, we focused on building an asset that would last.

Over the years, we invested more than $1,000,000 into SEO, paid search, and marketing. The goal was never quick wins. The goal was to build authority, visibility, and long-term lead flow that supported consistent growth.

Growth beyond Boulder. As demand increased, our reach expanded. Today, our team includes more than 22 experienced brokers and agents serving buyers and sellers from Castle Rock to Fort Collins. At that point, the name Boulder Home Source no longer reflected the full scope of our service area or the people we serve. The name had become limiting, even though our expertise and coverage had grown significantly. Continuing under the old name no longer matched who we are today.

“Our service standards, market knowledge, and client-first approach remain unchanged.”

Why does Colorado Home Source fit? After thoughtful conversations with our SEO experts and our internal team, it became clear that a change was necessary. Colorado Home Source gives us the flexibility to build, scale, and improve the website in ways that support both our current reach and where we’re headed next.

While the name has changed, our foundation hasn’t. Our office is still based in Boulder, which will always be home. Our service standards, market knowledge, and client-first approach remain unchanged.

What does this mean for you? If you’re a real estate agent, the lesson is clear. As your business grows, your branding, positioning, and platforms must evolve with it. A name, website, or niche that once fit perfectly can quietly start holding you back if it no longer reflects your reach or direction.

Growth requires adjustment, and thoughtful change creates opportunity. This transition wasn’t about rebranding for appearance. It was about aligning our platform with scale, clarity, and long-term business strategy.
